At the young age of 5, Craig Henningsen started Shorei-ryu at Sharkey's Karate Studio, in Naperville, Illinois being influenced by movies and his black belt babysitter. Being a young kid, he had a big ambition to be the best martial artist. Today, he's living his childhood dream. Craig presently holds 3 world-titles, 30 first-place national wins, including 3 prestigious Warrior Cup Grand Championships, and 3 ISKA titles aired on ESPN2. With this success also came the opportunity to compete, perform, and teach traveling to places like Spain, Ireland, Austria, Turkey, Italy, Japan, and United Arab Emirates..Through his martial arts training he was introduced to the Hollywood life. His small role in the Discovery Channel documentary, Xtreme Martial Arts, led to an exciting career path.
Shortly after Craig caught the interest of Jackie Chan's manager and began traveling to Los Angeles to take meetings with show business's biggest movie producers. Showcasing a 2 minute demo-reel, Craig landed a 2 picture movie deal with New Line Cinema working with the same producers that made the triumphant and popular Lord of the Rings series. With this same mind frame, they hope to create the next martial arts phenomenon. 'South Halsted' was then inked, a 90-page martial art script, crafted around Craig's martial art and parkour talents about a young man battling his way to the top in Chicago's troubled south-side urban housing projects.
Along with Sideswipe, Craig heated up the TV waves on NBC's America's Got Talent with over 15 million viewers. Through 6 episodes and hundreds of thousands of votes, Sideswipe proceeds to the Final 8, where they leave their mark as the last surviving variety act and expose a new breed of martial arts to the world. Craig also stars in The Weinstein Companies horror franchise Feast 3 from acclaimed director John Gulager (Winner of Bravo's Project Greenlight). Craig's character Jean-Claude Seagal, was specially written for him after meeting with writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Liongate's Saw).
Other works of Craig include sharing the small screen with Hip-Hip superstar T-Pain in an international Pepsi campaign and model for Puma's 2009 clothing line. Between his traveling for competitions and pursing his acting, one thing will always be the top of his list; and that is his adoration for guiding the next generation of martial arts to success.
